Megan's Story

Our mother’s life mission was supporting children with learning differences.

She made them feel safe and confident. In addition to teaching children, our mother offered parents guidance in their transformative impact on their child’s life.

Compassion and intuition were her guides.

An unbiased advocate for the vulnerable, her care stretched over all beings, animals included. Children with learning differences, parental support, and animal care will be the three pillars her foundation will focus on. Megan Welsh Andrews’ passion was an influential light that still shines well beyond our community. Just ask any of her alums.

In honor of her powerful, loving legacy we introduce The Megan Way – a fund to fuel the fire she ignited through her life’s work.

Megan’s parents, Helen and Richard Welsh, moved to Key Biscayne in 1951. Megan was born in 1957 and, for the most part, lived her entire life on this very special island. After becoming a learning disabilities specialist, Megan opened The Achievement Center on Key Biscayne, where she dedicated 38 years to helping children learn, grow, and reach their full potential.

Megan and her husband, Frank Andrews, raised their children, Alexandra and Justin Andrews, on Key Biscayne as well. Frank's older children, Leni and Frankie Andrews were born and raised on KB as well. Key Biscayne was so much more than the place Megan lived—it was her home, the community where she raised her family, built her career, and devoted so much of her life to supporting children and families.

For this reason, partnering with the Key Biscayne Community Foundation to continue Megan’s life’s work is especially meaningful. Through The Megan Way Foundation, we have the opportunity to carry forward the compassion, dedication, and love for others that Megan shared with this community throughout her life.
